ORGETOWN, PENANG - 7th August 2025 – The B. Braun Asia Pacific Innovation Day 2025 was successfully held yesterday at the Iconic Marjorie Hotel, Penang, bringing together key stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem to explore and showcase the latest advancements in medical technology and digital health solutions.
The programme began with registration, followed by a welcome address from Mr. Christian Kapischke, Senior Vice President of Operations, Head of CoE-IV Access, and B. Braun Asia Pacific Board Member. Following this, Mr. Lam Chee Hong, President of B. Braun Asia Pacific, delivered an opening speech. A major highlight of the morning session was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between B. Braun and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), marking a significant milestone in strengthening industry-academia collaboration and fostering future advancements in healthcare.
Carrying the theme “Healthcare Through Innovation”, the event aims to foster dialogue and knowledge-sharing to advance across the Asia Pacific region. The programme featured keynote speeches, a panel discussion, workshops, and product showcases designed to promote collaboration and encourage medical innovation.
Professor Dr. Azlan Amran, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Network) and Associate Professor Dr. Bakiah Shaharuddin, Director of the Advanced Medical and Dental Institute, Universiti Sains Malaysia, were invited as esteemed guests to witness the convergence of ideas and expertise that will shape the next phase of the medical industry.
Among the key highlights was the signing of the MoA between B. Braun and USM, marking a milestone in academic-industry collaboration.
Prominent speakers included Dr. Michael Lauk, Chief Digital Officer (CDO) of B. Braun SE (Melsungen Germany), who shared insights from an industry leadership perspective, and Dr. Chan Kok Joo, a Paediatrician and Clinical Fellow in Neonatology from Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, who presented his expertise on improving intravenous access in paediatric patients.
A notable panel discussion titled “Hospital at Home: Advancing Acute Care into the Home for Asia Pacific” was moderated by Dr. Fu YongJi, Vice President and Head of the R&D Department at B. Braun Medical Industries. The panellists included Dr. Michelle Tan Woei Jen, Head of the Department of Family Medicine & Continuing Care and SGH@Home at Singapore General Hospital; Rajpal Singh Baldev Singh, Corporate Head of Nursing at Mayapada Healthcare Group in Jakarta, Indonesia; Dr. Yow Hai Chean, Vice President and Head of IT Asia Pacific at B. Braun Medical Industries, and Faqaruzi Ripin, Regional Senior Manager of Clinical Education & Market Development for Vascular Access & Infusion Safety Asia Pacific at B. Braun.
Interactive Workshop Go-To Stations and a Product Showcase Discovery session provided attendees with opportunities to explore the latest in MedTech innovation and collaborative healthcare solutions.
B. Braun's continuous dedication to advancing healthcare excellence through innovation, partnerships, and expert engagement was demonstrated throughout Innovative Day.
The event concluded with closing remarks, leaving a strong impression on attendees from various backgrounds, including healthcare professionals, researchers, and university students. The day successfully celebrated innovation, collaboration, and the shared goal of advancing healthcare across the region.
