Unmasking the Hidden Threat: Raising Awareness, Saving Lives – PPUSMB PID Awareness Day, 8 October 2025

Promotion PPUSMB PID Awareness Day - 8 October 2025
MAIN LOBBY AT USM MEDICAL CENTRE BERTAM (PPUSMB), KEPALA BATAS, PENANG, October 8 2025 -

PPUSMB remains steadfast in its mission to serve the community by offering specialised treatment and diagnostic services for Primary Immunodeficiency (PID)—a rare but serious health condition.

PID is an inherited disorder that weakens the immune system, leaving patients highly vulnerable to frequent infections caused by bacteria and viruses. Global estimates suggest that PID may affect one in every 58,000 births. Without proper care, this condition can lead to life-threatening complications.

Only a small number of hospitals in Malaysia offer full PID services. PPUSMB is proud to stand as a national referral centre, equipped with dedicated specialists and advanced facilities to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment for those in need.

Recognising that public awareness of PID is still limited and that a delayed diagnosis could mean the difference between life and death, we are proud to host the Primary Immunodeficiency Awareness Day program. Our initiative aims to equip our community with essential knowledge about PID.

Together, let us raise awareness. Together, we can give every child and adult living with PID the chance for a healthier, brighter future. PID may be rare, but hope is powerful. At PPUSMB, we are proud to be one of the few referral centres in Malaysia, providing specialised care and diagnostics for those who need it the most.

Join us in raising awareness during PPUSMB PID Awareness Day.
